Keeping the Sabbath

Yahawah Hasn’t Changed His Word?

By Pastor Victor Archie

  • What if I told you Yahawah was the same yesterday, today, and forever?

  • What if I told you Yahawah’s Word would not return unto Him void?

  • What if I said Yahawah couldn’t lie?

If I said these things, you would all agree they are true and could be proven by Scripture (Hebrews 13:8; Ezekiel 24:14; Psalm 89:35). Understanding that Yahawah is unmovable in His Word and has laid down His will from the beginning helps us to know the importance of everything He has said.

The 4th Commandment

One of the commandments given by Yahawah deals with a date and time. The law given was blessed by Yahawah and later removed from the Scriptures by the Gentiles. In the Scriptures, there is no place where Yahawah told anyone to change the Sabbath day.

Exodus 20:8–11

8 Remember the Sabbath day by keeping it holy.
9 Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
10 but the seventh day is a Sabbath to Yahawah. On it you shall not do any work, neither you, nor your son or daughter, nor your male or female servant, nor your animals, nor any foreigner residing in your towns.
11 For in six days Yahawah made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, but He rested on the seventh day. Therefore, Yahawah blessed the Sabbath day and made it holy.

So we know the Sabbath was blessed by Yahawah and made holy. Although Yahawah blessed and made this day, man decided approximately 300 years after the death of Yahawashi (Jesus) that Rome would turn away from the Sabbath to the “Day of the Lord,” the first day, forsaking the seventh day of rest and worship.

Just to be clear, it is not wrong to go and worship in church on Sunday or any other day of the week, but it is a sin not to keep the Sabbath holy. We have to understand that Yahawah created all things and saw that it was good. He then made a day to commemorate His creation. He asked and wants us to partake in this beautiful event, and through our love for Him we share in this love with Him and in what He made. My friend, He made you!

To be more precise about the day He set aside for us, we must acknowledge the beginning and the end of it. The day given to man by Yah begins at sunset the evening before. Friday evening at sunset is the beginning of the Sabbath until sunset Saturday evening.

This timeline has been controversial for some believers for some time, but it is based on Scripture and the Hebraic calendars in which this command was given.

Genesis and the Order of the Day

In Genesis 1:3–5 we see where Yahawah set into motion the order of the day:

3 And Yahawah said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.
4 Yahawah saw that the light was good, and He separated the light from the darkness.
5 Yahawah called the light “day,” and the darkness He called “night.” And there was evening, and there was morning—the first day.

We see this repeated for each day of creation: “the evening and the morning.” You must understand that in the beginning there was no light. Until Yahawah called it into existence, there was only the Word, Yahawah, and the waters upon the face of the deep (the void). Then He called light to come forth, and it did.

This is why we worship and bless the Sabbath from evening to evening, from sunset to sunset. The evening came before the morning of each day, just as it was when Yahawah created all things.

Evening to Evening

Yahawah speaks to Moses regarding the High Sabbath in Leviticus 23:31–32:

31 You shall do no work at all. This is to be a lasting ordinance for the generations to come, wherever you live.
32 It is a day of Sabbath rest for you, and you must deny yourselves. From the evening of the ninth day of the month until the following evening you are to observe your Sabbath.

Yahawah clearly states evening to evening.

Many may ask, “Then why does our day begin at 12:00 AM, midnight?” The Romans changed the beginning of the day from sunset to midnight according to their own doctrines and scientific reasoning. You can research the development of midnight timekeeping and see this history.

The earth’s natural cycle of sunset and sunrise moves like a beating heart. Changing this breaks the synchronization Yah designed for man. The Roman timeline begins in the middle of the night (“midnight”), rather than by the pattern Yahawah established through light and darkness.

Yahawashi and the Sabbath

In Mark 16:9, Yahawashi honors the Sabbath when He remained in the grave until the Sabbath was over.

Verse 9:
“Yahawashi had risen early the first day of the week and appeared first to Mary Magdalene.”

Matthew 28:1–7 provides additional detail.

1 In the end of the sabbath, as it began to dawn toward the first day of the week, came Mary Magdalene and the other Mary to see the sepulchre.

2 And, behold, there was a great earthquake: for the angel of Yahawah descended from heaven, and came and rolled back the stone from the door, and sat upon it.

3 His countenance was like lightning, and his raiment white as snow:

4 and for fear of him the keepers did shake, and became as dead men.

5 And the angel answered and said unto the women, Fear not ye: for I know that ye seek Yahawashi, which was crucified.

6 He is not here: for He is risen, as He said. Come, see the place where the Master lay.

7 And go quickly, and tell His disciples that He is risen from the dead; and, behold, He goeth before you into Galilee; there shall ye see Him: lo, I have told you.

We see that at the ending of the Sabbath, before the transition to the first day of the week, Yahawashi rose. Mary reported this to the disciples early Sunday morning. They were still keeping the sunset-to-sunset understanding of days.

So we see Yahawashi, even until death, honored the Sabbath day Yahawah established from the beginning.

A Question for Believers

If the Father made it so, and His Son honored it until death, what authority does man have to change what was set in motion from the beginning?

History records that the Roman Church moved the day of worship to Sunday. On March 7, 321 A.D., Emperor Constantine passed a law declaring Sunday a day of rest for the empire.

Later church leaders reinforced this change and transferred many practices associated with the Sabbath to Sunday worship.

The Sabbath as a Sign

In Ezekiel 20:20, Yahawah tells us:

“Hallow My Sabbaths; and they shall be a sign between Me and you, that you may know that I am Yahawah.”

The Sabbath is a sign between Yahawah and His people.

The Law and Obedience

Scripture tells us in 1 John 3:4 that sin is the transgression of the law. We must ask ourselves: can we knowingly break the commandments of Yahawah and still claim righteousness?

Grace covers the sins of those who did not know, but those who knowingly rebel will face judgment on the great Day of Judgment.

The Sabbath from the Beginning

The Sabbath existed before the Hebrew nation.

Genesis 2:1–3

1 Thus the heavens and the earth were completed in all their vast array.
2 By the seventh day Yahawah had finished the work He had been doing, so on the seventh day He rested.
3 Then Yahawah blessed the seventh day and made it holy.

This occurred before the fall of Adam, before Noah, Abraham, or Israel. The Sabbath was established for humanity.

Final Thoughts

Yahawashi fulfilled the sacrificial system through His death and resurrection. We are no longer under the physical punishment of the law, but we are still called to live in obedience.

Romans 6:1–2 reminds us:

“Shall we continue in sin that grace may abound? God forbid.”

The Spirit guides us into truth, but it does not force us. We must choose to follow Yahawah and keep His commandments.

Revelation 22:14

“Blessed are those who do His commandments, that they may have the right to the tree of life and may enter through the gates into the city.”

My brothers & sisters, I hope this blesses you, and please let’s talk about it if you have questions.
